Volleyball Australia Launches Enhanced Indoor National Volleyball Program
Volleyball Australia is pleased to announce the launch of its new enhanced Indoor National Volleyball Program, creating a unified structure that integrates both current (LA 2028) and future (Brisbane 2032) Olympic cycles under one comprehensive development system.
This landmark program marks a significant shift in the way Australia develops its indoor volleyball talent, moving from separate initiatives to an integrated national squad environment based at the National Training Centre in Canberra.
The new program structure comprises:
Current Cycle (LA 2028):
- National Senior Men’s Team – Volleyroos
- National Senior Women’s Team – Volleyroos
Next Cycle (Brisbane 2032):
- Volleyroos for 2032 – Men
- Volleyroos for 2032 – Women
This strategic transformation represents a significant shift in how Australia will look to develop indoor volleyball talent, moving from separate programs to an integrated national squad environment based at the National Training Centre in Canberra.
Key Program Features include:
- Year-round training at Australia’s premier volleyball facility
- Integration between current and future Olympic cycle athletes
- Enhanced coaching from nationally experienced staff
- Comprehensive support services including medical, physiotherapy, and strength & conditioning
- Direct pathway to senior national team representation
“This program reinforces our commitment to the AIS site as our dedicated Indoor Volleyball National Training Centre,” Craig Marshall, National Performance Director said.
“Having our future and current Olympic cycle athletes training in the same high-performance environment provides significant advantages for athlete development and program integration.
“The National Training Centre environment allows us to deliver consistent, high-quality development while our athletes benefit from world-class facilities and support services.
“This integrated approach ensures our emerging athletes are training in the same environment they’ll need to excel in as senior international players.”
Designed with Brisbane 2032 as a clear destination, the program will see Volleyroos for 2032 athletes train alongside Australia’s returning overseas-based professionals during the international season (May to September), fostering a dynamic and competitive learning environment.
