Australian Volleyball Schools Cup – Day 5 Thursday December 11

Day five of the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup brought another surge of energy across the Gold Coast as teams battled, all vying for strong positions ahead of finals day on Saturday.

With pressure building and divisions tightening, venues were buzzing, not just with athletes and coaches, but with the dedicated volunteers who help bring the Schools Cup to life each year.

Among those helping keep the tournament running smoothly was Caryn Franzke and Tracy Frith, who shared their experience supporting the Schools Cup this week.

“I love to see all the young talents, and hopefully they become Australian volleyball players one day,” Caryn Franzke said.

“There are quite a lot of girls and boys here who are just really talented, so it’s really good to see them play volleyball.

“I personally play, and I haven’t been doing too much since it’s uni break, so I figured that it would be something fun to do because I love volleyball.”

“This is my first year volunteering at Schools Cup, and it’s been really good,” Tracy Frith said.

“It’s been great to meet lots of new people from across Australia, all coming together, share a common interest, and make new connections.

“I didn’t play volleyball myself, but I started as a volunteer helping as my girls started to play and then it developed from there – so sort of assisting, coaching committees, volunteering.

“The magnitude of the event inspired me to volunteer at Schools Cup. With so many teams from across Australia and such a large-scale environment, it’s been amazing to build connections within the volleyball community and learn new things to take back to our state communities.”
