Australian Volleyball Schools Cup – Day 6 Friday December 12

As the penultimate day of competition wrapped up, day six of the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup delivered some of the most intense matchups of the week.

With all eyes now turning toward day seven’s finals, teams left nothing to chance, raising their game and giving everything to secure momentum heading into the medal rounds.

Asha and Scarlett from Santa Sabina College are competing in the Year 9 Division 1 Girls category, with most of their team returning for their third Schools Cup campaign.

“We’re in Year 9 Division 1 Girls this year and this is most of the team’s third year competing at Schools Cup,” Asha said.

“I love this tournament so much, it’s so much fun. I love the competition, game days but also just being with my mates.”

“We enjoy it because it’s like coming to a new environment,” Scarlett said.

“You get to play new teams, unlike in your home state where you’re often playing the same teams all the time.

“Schools Cup is like a new experience and it’s just so much fun and so exciting.”

Billanook College’s Lewis and Ethan are representing their school in the Year 10 Honours Boys division, with some of the team experiencing their first Schools Cup alongside teammates who’ve competed here before.

“This is my first time at Schools Cup, but most of the team have been here previously,” Ethan said.

“The tournament is going well, definitely hot here in Queensland but having a lot of fun.”

“Everyone just gets up and is excited for Schools Cup,” Lewis said.

“The atmosphere is just so different here with all the teams from across Australia and New Zealand, and you don’t get the same vibe within your own state like us in Victoria.”
