National Championships head west for three years
Volleyball Australia has secured a deal with the Western Australian Government to stage the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships and Australian Volleyball Club Championships in Perth for the next three years.
Set to take place across the Arena Joondalup, Bendat Basketball Centre and Gold Netball Centre in Perth, the 2025 Mahindra Australian Volleyball Super League will kick-start 10 days of action with home games for the Perth Steel men’s and women’s teams on 21 September. This will be followed by the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships from 22 to 26 September and the Australian Club Volleyball Championships from 27 to 29 September.
These events will conclude on 30 September at the fourth and final day of a National Junior Development Camp, providing opportunities for Australia’s up and coming athletes to enhance their skills and be trained by some of Australia’s top coaches.
Volleyball Australia CEO Andrew Dee said he can’t wait to welcome the Australian Volleyball community to the west coast.
“Volleyball Australia is thrilled to be taking the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships and Australian Club Volleyball Championships to Perth in 2025,” said Dee.
“Following a long period of travel for our west coast teams, Volleyball Australia is looking forward to welcoming thousands of athletes, staff, families and friends to Perth for what are sure to be two of the season’s stand-out events.
“We are thrilled to partner with Volleyball Western Australia and Tourism Western Australia to deliver some of the most popular and exciting events on the annual calendar,” he said.
The Hon. Rita Saffioti BBus MLA, Minister for Tourism said WA is thrilled to welcome the event back to the state for the first time in 15 years.
“Securing mass-participation events like the National Volleyball Championships is a big win for our local community and economy,” she said. “These events are a real coup for WA as they attract thousands of players, coaches, officials and spectators, funnelling patrons to our tourism, hospitality and accommodation businesses and boosting the State’s economy.
“These championships also provide a valuable opportunity to connect the local community and activate our State-owned sporting infrastructure across the 10 days, enhancing our vibrant and diverse Western Australian events calendar.”
Volleyball WA CEO Robyn Kuhl, said the Volleyball community is looking forward to welcoming teams from around the country with open arms.
“The Western Australian volleyball community is eagerly anticipating the arrival of teams from across the nation,” said Kuhl. “It is both an honour and a privilege for the Volleyball WA team to assist and support Volleyball Australia with the hosting of the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships, Australian Club Volleyball Championships and the National Youth Development Camp, we are thrilled to be part of it.
“The Australian Volleyball Super League game being hosted by the Volleyball WA Perth Steel teams on the 21st September, 2025 will be an exciting spectator opportunity for the all the Youth Volleyball teams, and the Western Australian volleyball community to see the highest nationwide indoor volleyball played.
