South Australia Sports Institute formally recognised as an FIVB Centre of Excellence

The South Australia Sports Institute (SASI) has been formally recognised as an FIVB
Centre of Excellence through a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed
by the FIVB, Volleyball Australia and SASI. The MoU is a legacy initiative of the FIVB
Beach Volleyball World Championships Adelaide 2025 and aims to strengthen the
development of beach volleyball across Oceania, with a particular focus on youth
engagement and sustainable growth in the region.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World
Championships 2025 in Adelaide, Australia, where 96 teams from 40 nations are
competing over 10 days of thrilling action at The Drive and Pinky Flat/Tarntanya Wama.
The MoU underscores the shared commitment of FIVB, AUS and SASI to empower and
develop emerging talent, enhance coaching and officiating standards and promote the
sport’s values at all levels – from grassroots to elite performance. It also reinforces the
FIVB’s long-term vision of engaging more people and to expand the Global Volleyball
Movement.

Under the agreement, the three organisations will collaborate on a range of joint
programmes and initiatives, including knowledge transfer, mutual promotion and youth

development projects. These will cover key areas such as coaching education,
officiating, sports science, performance analysis and leadership development.
The partnership also aims to leverage the visibility of beach volleyball through
coordinated communication and ambassador programmes, while seeking support from
partners, sponsors and government agencies to sustain growth and expand
infrastructure across Australia.
