Volleyroos finish sixth at Asian Championships

The Men’s Indoor Volleyroos have finished sixth at the Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championships in Japan.

Having faced Qatar earlier in the draw and suffering a tough loss, the Volleyroos were looking to improve on their previous encounter.

“Qatar played their best match of the tournament against us in the early finals stages,” Volleyroos Head Coach Marco Miranda said.

“They were relentless in their defensive system which made us not able to take control fo our side out,” he said.

But Qatar again proved too strong, the Volleyroos losing 3-0 (21-25, 11-25, 23-25).

“The final result of the competition was far from what we would have liked, but we must move forward,” Marcos said.

“Now we have to analyse the evolution of the teams that are here, what kind of work is being done for this evolution, know what our limitations in the Asian and World context are, and plan so that we can have better results in the future,” he said.

The Volleyroos finished sixth overall, with Iran claiming back to back Asian Championship titles.
