Australian Beach Volleyball Schools Cup winners decided

Under the sun at Coolangatta, 16 divisions battled it out for the winning title on the final day of the 2025 Australian Beach Volleyball Schools Cup.

Finishing with the gold in the Year 12 Boys pairs division was Lucas Fletcher and Angus Watson from Scots College in New South Wales, the win making it three in a row for Lucas.

“It was awesome to finish with a win, and after we finished I couldn’t stop smiling,” Lucas said.

“This is my third gold in a row, but with three different partners, but it has been the same coach the whole time, so I owe it all to Max – he’s been there the whole way and helped me improve as a player and a person.”

His partner and MVP of the tournament, Angus, played in all three tournaments at VolleySlam this week, and to come away with the gold on the final day is something special.

“It’s my first medal of the whole week after playing all three tournaments,” Angus said.

“I didn’t come away with anything at Youth Champs, but it feels really good to win this one – I feel like we played really well and deserved it.

“It’s the best way to finish and it’s been just a really great tournament, with lots of volleyball going on which is always fun.

“Everyone’s just been playing really hard, and there’s been some really good games and it just makes it a really fun experience every year.”

Meanwhile, in the Year 12 Girls pairs division, it was Stephanie Marshall and Evie Moss from Craigslea who finished on top.

“It was a really good final,” Stephanie said.

“We stayed strong with our serving and just stayed really aggressive with where we were putting the ball.

“The whole VolleySlam week has been really fun and it was actually my first tournament back in a while, so it was really good to get back into it and finish with a gold and MVP performance.”
