Club Championships wrap up ten days of action in Bendigo
Ten fantastic days of volleyball action in Bendigo have come to a close with the medals decided at the Australian Club Volleyball Championships.
KVA Future Stars were crowned the Champion Club with strong results across the tournament. Their women won the Division 2 gold medal and defended the Premier Division title, while the men took bronze in Division 1.
Heidelberg won the Men’s Premier Division for the second straight year, while Phantoms (Women’s Division 1), Volley Friends United Melbourne (Men’s Division 1) and Sydney United (Men’s Division 2) also took out titles.
Over the course of the last week and a half, more than 2000 players, referees and team officials have participated in the Scape Australian Volleyball Super League Finals, Australian Youth Volleyball Championships and Australian Club Volleyball Championships.
Volleyball Australia CEO Andrew Dee congratulated everyone who participated and thanked everyone who gave up their time to ensure these tournaments were another great success.
“These past ten days are a testament to the volleyball community in Australia – where it is and where it’s going,” he said.
“The stars of tomorrow in the Youth Championships put on a great show, the camaraderie of the Club Championships is a great celebration of the sport and the Scape Australian Super League finals were a fantastic advertisement for volleyball.
“Bendigo has once again proven itself to be a fabulous host city for volleyball tournaments. The hospitality has been wonderful and the facilities at Red Energy Arena and Flora Hill are exactly what we require for events of this size.”
