Vale Alex Borgeaud

Volleyball Australia was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Alex Borgeaud.

Alex served as the Financial Director of both the Queensland Volleyball Association (now Volleyball Queensland) and the Australia Volleyball Federation (now Volleyball Australia).

He became an administrator as a volunteer parent in the sport that his whole family came to love. He is father to our Women’s Volleyroos head coach Russ Borgeaud, Board member Malcolm Borgeaud, Volleyball Australia members Lisa and Phil Borgeaud. The love of volleyball runs deep in his family, with many Borgeaud grandchildren in the Australian Volleyball Super League.

Alex took volleyball from the days of kitchen table committees, to sound business administration. He had so much to do with creating the sustainable organisations that we see today.

Alex always provided sound advice, based on a consummate business understanding and always delivered with the good grace and humility that made him respected by all.

Alex will be remembered by all who knew him as a profoundly decent, kind and gentle man who was much loved, and he will be sorely missed.
