VOLLEYBALL AUSTRALIA SET TO HOST FIRST AUSTRALIAN BEACH PARAVOLLEY NATIONAL SERIES IN CANBERRA

Volleyball Australia in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport and Volleyball ACT are set to host the first Australian Beach ParaVolley National Series in Canberra this September.

The five day event will showcase the ever growing Australian Beach ParaVolley program, with the hope of attracting more athletes to join the program.

It will be the first major Beach ParaVolley event to be held in Australia, and the first standing ParaVolley event to be held in Australia since the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.

Australian Beach ParaVolley player and team manager Nick Coburn said he’s looking forward to a great event.

“This event will bring together 13 men and women from all around Australia for a training camp at the world class AIS facility in Canberra to show off the amazing skills of our adaptive athletes,” Coburn said.

“Our program has grown from just 3 men in 2019 to over 25 men and women currently.

“Hopefully this event will attract other athletes with disabilities to join our program. Whether they are already playing volleyball and didn’t know we existed, or they may be involved in another Paralympic sport and want to try Beach ParaVolley,” Coburn said.

The Australian Beach ParaVolley National Series matches will be held at the Lyneham Beach Volleyball venue in Canberra from September 18-20, and open to the public to spectate. Schedule to be confirmed.
