Week-Long Australian Volleyball Schools Cup Set to Shake up Gold Coast

The much loved Australian Volleyball Schools Cup will return to the Gold Coast in Queensland this week, with the six-day competition to kick off from Monday following the official opening ceremony on Sunday afternoon.

The Australian Volleyball Schools Cup is the marquee junior participation event in the national events portfolio, bringing together hundreds of teams annually in December to enjoy an introduction to volleyball, camaraderie and enthusiastic competition amongst the nation’s school community.

Pleased to once again partner with Tourism and Events Queensland and Experience Gold Coast to host the event, Volleyball Australia will oversee the event from December 3-9 across four major Gold Coast Stadiums; Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium, Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, Coomera Indoor Sports Centre and Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium.

Almost 5,500 students from 150 schools will play and compete together, with the action packed week to finish with finals on Saturday December 9.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate is thrilled to see Volleyball Australia’s largest national participation event return to the Gold Coast.

“It’s a huge honour to again welcome the Volleyball Schools Cup back with competitors showcasing their skills on the Gold Coast,’’ said Tate.

“This event is a breeding ground for future national-level representatives with players from across Australia, and New Zealand, taking to the courts. Make a date with the Volleyball Schools Cup and get down to Carrara to support our future champions.’’

The Australian Volleyball Schools Cup is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and Experience Gold Coast and features on the It’s LIVE! In Queensland events calendar.

Volleyball Australia also recognises event sponsors Hancock Prospecting, Scape Australia, Mikasa and Scrunchiko, and thanks them for their continued support.
