
Road towards Tokyo continues for Australian men’s beach volleyball teams
Australia’s leading men’s beach volleyball teams are in Thailand as they prepare to take on the FIVB Beach Volleyball AVC Continental Cup that kicks off tonight.
Damien Schumann/Chris McHugh and Zac Schubert/Max Guehrer will take part in the semi-finals at the AVC Continental Cup as both sides aim to secure one of the final spots on offer for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Both sides are into the semi-finals, with their opponents to be determined from matches underway. The winner of the AVC Continental Cup progresses through to the final that will be held from 25-27 June 2021.
Australia head into the Tournament seeded in first position with teams from Japan, Kazakhstan, Philippines and Lebanon all set to take part.
2018 Commonwealth Games Champions Schumann & McHugh will be among the favourites showing solid form throughout the 2020-2021 Australian Beach Volleyball Tour (ABVT) where they were undefeated and took out the tour.
Fellow South Australians Schubert & Guehrer will also be out to impress after delivering strong performances on the 2020-2021 ABVT.
